Windows Server
2012 (code name «Windows Server 8") - version of the server operating
system from Microsoft, the development of which has now been completed.
It belongs to the family of operating systems Microsoft Windows. This
server operating system to replace the current production Windows Server
2008 R2. Windows Server 2012 will be the first version of Windows
Server from Windows NT 4.0, which does not support Itanium processors.
Windows Server 2012 also includes a new file system, Microsoft
Resilient File System (ReFS), designed to efficiently manage large
volumes of data and prevent the loss of a shared storage between
systems.
Originally ReFS will only be available in the server version of the
platform, but Microsoft is planning to move it later on client systems.
Microsoft has also previously stated that the majority of applications
for Windows Server 2008 R2 and must run on Windows Server 2012. The new
service is added to the server OS Dynamic Access Control.
The work of the service aims to improve the centralized level security
domain files and folders to ensure security on top of existing file
permissions. One of the innovations of the new Windows Server 2012 is a
new development corporation - Storage Spaces.
Storage Spaces provides system administrators working with Windows
Server 2012, to manage a large number of storage systems that are
connected via SAS. It is interesting that with Storage Spaces no need
to use additional software. At the conference, Microsoft Build
association showed 16 hard drives into a single pool.

virtual disks
